About the Role
Role Overview
The Family Engagement Specialist (FES) leads parent and caregiver programming at The Nest. This role focuses on connection, education, and empowerment, creating spaces where parents feel supported, respected, and understood.
FESs facilitate non-clinical education sessions and support groups that help families better understand neurodivergence, navigate systems, and build tools they can use in everyday life—without shame, pressure, or judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead parent and caregiver engagement groups (in-person and/or virtual)
Create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for families
Facilitate education sessions on raising neurodivergent children and youth
Share practical, person-centered strategies families can use at home
Support families in understanding regulation, communication, and nervous systems
Offer guidance on advocating for their children within schools, healthcare, and community systems
Collaborate with leadership to design responsive and relevant programming
Communicate with families regarding participation, resources, and follow-up
Provide brief post-session summaries (attendance, key themes, any follow-up needs)
Schedule
Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Wednesdays: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Requirements
Experience working with children and/or youth with Autism, ADHD, Developmental Delay, or Intellectual Disability is an asset
Prior work with families is not required, however will be a strong asset.
Ability to use therapeutic language, and create a warm environment for families.

Comfortable building genuine relationships with participants and families
